The Flauta del Abuelo invites you to return to the origin of sound through the breath. Handcrafted from selected bamboo, each piece is carved and tuned by hand until finding its fundamental note, respecting the nobility and organic acoustics of the material.
Its defining characteristic lies in the complete absence of finger holes: there is no fingering technique or technical system involved. Melodic variations arise purely from intention, nuance, and the intensity of the airflow. This unique quality makes the Abuelita a pure and meditative wind instrument, where the object simply translates the subtlety of your breath into music, offering a deep connection with breathing, inner pulse, and the present moment.
SER SONORO is a project of handcrafted musical instruments created by luthier Ali Padilla. He develops instruments with the intention of allowing everyone to approach music intuitively, without needing prior knowledge. By using pentatonic scale tunings, these instruments make it easy to enjoy playing harmonious melodies and forging a deep connection with music.
