The two-octave marimba invites you to explore sound from the very first touch. Designed on a pentatonic scale, each note flows naturally into the next, removing melodic tension to make way for an immediate, immersive, and meditative harmonic experience.
Its frame is built from fine cedar wood, creating a body that resonates with warmth and amplifies tone. The glass keys, individually polished and hand-tuned, project a crystalline, bright, and sustained timbre.
Inspired by the layout of kalimbas, its design facilitates an organic learning curve: no prior theoretical knowledge is needed to let your hands go, connect with the rhythm, and allow the body to translate emotions into melodies. An intuitive and noble piece that transforms your first encounter with sound into an experience of play, presence, and connection with rhythm.
SER SONORO is a project of handcrafted musical instruments created by luthier Ali Padilla. He develops instruments with the intention of allowing everyone to approach music intuitively, without needing prior knowledge. By using pentatonic scale tunings, these instruments make it easy to enjoy playing harmonious melodies and forging a deep connection with music.
